Assistant Quantity Surveyor - Bridgwater Tidal Barrier
Location: Bridgwater Tidal Barrier, Bridgwater
Hours: 40 per week (0800-1700) - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.
We are unable to offer certificates of sponsorship to any candidates in this role.
This is an exciting opportunity to support our commercial team in managing the Bridgwater Tidal Barrier works. You'll gain valuable hands-on project experience whilst working on this significant infrastructure project, with structured development and support throughout. Working within an inclusive and collaborative environment, you'll contribute to effective commercial and contractual management across subcontract administration, cost control, payment processes and change management under NEC4 contract arrangements.
What will you be responsible for?
As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you'll be working within the SCF Commercial Team, supporting them in the effective commercial and contractual management of the project. Your day-to-day will include:
- Supporting the commercial management of subcontract packages, including payment assessments, maintaining clear records, and assisting with certification
- Assisting with monthly applications for payment, cost allocation, and cost-to-complete forecasting
- Supporting the identification and assessment of compensation events, including gathering records and preparing quotations
- Contributing to procurement activities, including tender reviews, comparisons, and preparation of subcontract documentation
- Collaborating with engineering, planning, delivery, and project controls teams to maintain accurate and current commercial records

What are we looking for?
This role of Assistant Quantity Surveyor is great for you if:
- You have good numeracy skills and a basic understanding of cost management and commercial record-keeping
- You have strong attention to detail and can maintain accurate records across multiple work packages
- You're competent in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft 365 applications, with the ability to learn project systems
- You can organise your workload effectively, meet monthly deadlines, and communicate clearly with various teams
- You have a collaborative, proactive approach and are willing to take ownership of tasks whilst seeking guidance when needed
