Assistant Quantity Surveyor

📍 Denton, Manchester (M34 2GP)
💷 £17.79 PAYE / £20.83 Umbrella per hour (approx. £37k FTE equivalent)
⏱ 3-month contract (potential to extend, workload permitting)
🕐 40 hrs/week, 08:30 start
✅ CSCS card required

About the Role

Working within a Facilities Management commercial team on the Avanti West Coast contract, supporting periodic payment applications and broader commercial administration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting periodic payment applications (2 per period) — ensuring on-time, accurate submission
  • Reviewing supporting evidence, creating and testing hyperlinks, checking attachments before submission
  • Periodic reconciliations — reducing WIP and converting to "applied for" status
  • Ensuring material costs are fully claimed, liaising with Ops to resolve issues
  • Assisting with raising Early Warning Notices (EWNs) and pricing Compensation Events via CEMAR
  • Ad-hoc commercial support: procurement, contract documentation, subcontractor liaison, raising POs and material requisitions

  • BSc/MSc Quantity Surveying desirable but not essential
  • FM (Facilities Management) experience strongly preferred
  • Self-starter with strong commercial awareness
  • Confident communicator, able to hit the ground running
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong Excel skills essential — XLOOKUP, Pivot Tables (majority of work is Excel-based)
  • Understanding of payment applications helpful (training provided)
