Summary: The Assistant Quantity Surveyor will play a vital role in supporting the quantity surveying team within the building and construction industry. Based on-site with our head office located in Perth and Kinross, Scotland, this permanent, full-time position involves assisting in the management of project costs, ensuring that projects are completed within budget and to the required quality standards. The successful candidate will contribute to the overall success of the organisation by providing accurate financial information and supporting the delivery of projects on time.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of cost estimates and budgets for construction projects.
  • Support the quantity surveying team in managing project costs and financial reporting.
  • Conduct site visits to monitor progress and gather data for cost analysis.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records of project expenditures and variations.
  • Assist in the preparation of tender documents and contract administration.
  • Collaborate with project managers, architects, and contractors to ensure effective communication and project delivery.
  • Participate in the evaluation of subcontractor bids and assist in negotiations.
  • Provide support in the preparation of final accounts and project close-out documentation.

  • A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field is preferred.
  • Relevant experience in a similar role within the building and construction industry.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data.
  • Proficient in using quantity surveying software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and attention to detail.
