Assistant Quantity Surveyor – Data Centre Construction

Location: Hayes, West London

Salary: £40,000 – £47,000 + Car Allowance + Benefits

Sector: Data Centres / Construction

Job Type: Permanent

Are you an Assistant Quantity Surveyor looking to build your career on a major, technically complex construction project?

My client is an established design, construction and engineering contractor delivering specialist projects across the data, defence and energy sectors.

They are looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team, initially based on a major data centre development in Hayes. This is a substantial project comprising 18 data halls, delivering approximately 24MW of usable IT power, together with HV and MV energy infrastructure, backup power generation and associated site infrastructure.

The Opportunity

Working alongside experienced commercial and project teams, you'll get involved across the commercial lifecycle of the project while developing towards independently managing your own packages and commercial activities. You'll support cost reporting and forecasting, valuations, subcontract procurement and accounts, variations, change management and final accounts, while working closely with the wider project team, subcontractors, consultants and suppliers. It's a good opportunity if you've already started your career in Quantity Surveying and now want greater responsibility, exposure to a major project and the chance to develop within the growing data centre sector.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
