As our work across the New Build, Social Housing and Commercial sectors continues to grow, we are looking for a motivated Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our expanding Commercial Team in Dunfermline and build a rewarding long-term career with one of Scotland's most recognised brands.
Reporting to the Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will gain valuable hands-on experience across the full contract lifecycle, working on significant projects for major housebuilders, local authorities and commercial clients across Scotland and Northern England. You will receive experienced support while being trusted with increasing responsibility as your skills develop.

The Role
This is more than a traditional Assistant Quantity Surveyor role. You will gain broad commercial and project experience, with direct exposure to clients, operational teams and the supply chain, while being supported to take on greater responsibility as your career develops.
- Support the commercial management of multiple contracts.
- Prepare valuations and assist with variations and final accounts.
- Contribute to contract mobilisation and subcontractor procurement.
- Assist with forecasting, budgeting and commercial reporting.
- Engage with clients, senior management and supply-chain partners.
- Help improve commercial systems and working practices.

About You
You will ideally be degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline, with some experience of commercial contracts within construction. Applications are also welcomed from those at an earlier career stage who can demonstrate strong potential and a genuine commitment to developing within the profession.
- Strong written, verbal and numerical skills.
- Commercial awareness and an organised approach.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively as part of a team.
- Confidence using Microsoft Office applications and a willingness to learn.
An understanding of contract administration would be beneficial. Full training will be provided on CR Smith systems and proprietary software.
