Assistant Quantity Surveyor : Excellent Career Opportunity

An established and growing privately owned main contractor is looking to appoint an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team in Kings Lynn, East Anglia.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor who is looking to broaden their commercial experience, take on increased responsibility and develop their career within a successful and supportive construction business.

The company delivers a diverse portfolio of projects across the healthcare, retail, education and commercial office sectors, offering excellent exposure to a variety of construction environments and project types across East Anglia.

Working alongside experienced Quantity Surveyors, Project Managers and operational teams, you will play an important role in supporting the commercial delivery of projects from tender and procurement through to completion and final account.


The Role

As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial team across a range of live projects, developing your knowledge and experience across all areas of quantity surveying.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

  • Assisting with client valuations and applications for payment
  • Supporting monthly cost:value reconciliation and commercial reporting
  • Monitoring project costs, budgets and financial performance
  • Assisting with subcontractor procurement and account management
  • Supporting tendering, pricing and estimating activities
  • Assisting with the management of variations and change control
  • Supporting contract administration and commercial management
  • Preparing and processing subcontractor payments
  • Assisting with subcontractor and client final accounts
  • Identifying commercial risks, opportunities and potential cost savings
  • Maintaining accurate commercial and project documentation
  • Working closely with site and project teams to ensure successful project delivery
  • Supporting the commercial management of projects across healthcare, retail, education and commercial office developments

About You

We are looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor who is commercially minded, organised and keen to develop their career.

Ideally, You Will Have

  • Previous experience in a Quantity Surveying, Estimating or commercial construction role
  • An HNC, HND, Degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction or a related discipline
  • A good understanding of construction and commercial processes
  • Strong numerical and analytical ability
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • A proactive approach with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • A genuine desire to progress within the construction industry
