We are seeking a highly capable and experienced Security Operations Officer to lead the day-to-day delivery of security operations at a flagship shopping centre in the East Midlands. This is a pivotal role responsible for ensuring a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for all visitors, tenants, and stakeholders.
The successful candidate will be a strong operational leader with proven experience managing large teams, delivering high standards of security, and supporting strategic and business continuity objectives.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES...
- Oversee the daily delivery of all security operations across the centre
- Ensure effective deployment of security personnel and resources
- Maintain a safe and secure environment for customers, retailers, and staff
- Monitor and continuously improve operational performance standards
- Lead on emergency planning and response procedures
- Act as a key point of contact during incidents and major events
- Support and test business continuity and disaster recovery plans
- Provide line management to Operational Team Leaders and Control Room Supervisors
- Lead, motivate, and develop a large, multi-disciplinary security team
- Conduct performance reviews, coaching, and succession planning
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performance team culture
- Identify training needs and ensure all staff are fully trained and compliant
- Deliver and support ongoing development programmes
- Ensure adherence to SIA licensing requirements and industry best practice
- Oversee control room operations, including CCTV monitoring and incident response
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and data protection requirements
- Maintain integrity, confidentiality, and proper use of surveillance systems
- Manage third-party security contracts and external service providers
- Build strong relationships with retailers, local authorities, and emergency services
- Act as a key liaison for all security-related matters
- Ensure full compliance with health & safety legislation and site policies
- Conduct risk assessments and ensure mitigation measures are implemented
- Promote a strong safety culture across the team
- Deliver a customer-first approach to security operations
- Ensure all interactions with the public and stakeholders reflect professionalism and care
- Support a welcoming and inclusive environment within the centre
- Contribute to the development and delivery of security strategies
- Support long-term planning, risk management, and resilience initiatives
- Drive continuous improvement and innovation within the security function

- Proven experience in a senior security operations role, ideally within a retail or high-footfall environment
- Demonstrated experience managing and developing large teams
- Strong knowledge of security operations, including CCTV systems
- Valid SIA Licence (essential)
- Solid understanding of health & safety, compliance, and risk management
- Experience in emergency planning and incident management
- Knowledge of business continuity and disaster recovery principles
- Understanding of data protection and information security requirements
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Strong customer service ethos with the ability to engage with diverse audiences
