About Us

At NHS Golden Jubilee University National Hospital, we’re proud to play a key role in supporting NHS Scotland by delivering high quality, person-centred care. As a modern, national facility with state-of-the-art clinical services and specialist teams, we help ensure patients across Scotland receive timely, safe and effective treatment.

About The Role

NHS Golden Jubilee University National Hospital is seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Service Manager to join our Medical Education Division. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting the delivery of high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate medical education within a nationally recognised specialist NHS organisation. Working closely with the Director and Associate Director of Medical Education, you will help shape the future of medical education, support strategic priorities, and ensure the delivery of safe, effective and innovative education services.

As Assistant Service Manager, you will provide both operational and strategic leadership across the Medical Education portfolio. You will lead service improvement initiatives, support capacity and workforce planning, oversee governance and quality processes, and contribute to the achievement of national and local performance targets. The role requires a proactive individual who can analyse complex information, develop evidence-based recommendations, and influence positive change across a diverse range of stakeholders. The successful candidate will play a central role in the coordination of junior doctor and medical student programmes, management of teaching and training activities, performance reporting, financial oversight, and service development. You will work collaboratively with clinicians, educational leads, universities, NHS Scotland Academy, corporate support services and external partners to ensure the delivery of an exceptional educational experience and the continuous advancement of the organisation's educational objectives.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
