Assistant Shift Leader
Location: RAF Fylingdales, North Yorkshire, YO18 7NT
Salary: Competitive salary plus excellent benefits, including 25% shift allowance uplift
Schedule: 8-week, 7-day fixed shift pattern including days (08:00-20:00) and nights (20:00-08:00) with rest days in between and 14-18 days' leave after each 8-week cycle.

As an Assistant Shift Leader, you'll help deliver the continuous operation and maintenance of the Solid State Phased Array Radar (SSPAR), supporting a critical capability that operates 24/7. Your work will help ensure uninterrupted radar availability while maintaining the safe and efficient operation of essential SSPAR equipment and infrastructure.
This is a role with real purpose, combining technical expertise, leadership support, and operational responsibility. Working as part of a highly skilled shift team, you'll help create impactful solutions that support national defence, protect vital capabilities, and make a positive impact through reliable service delivery. What you'll do as an Assistant Shift Leader
- Operate and monitor facilities plant, the Building Management System (BMS) and fire alarm systems within the SSPAR facility.
- Carry out Authorised Person (Electrical) duties for high voltage (HV) and low voltage (LV) systems, supporting planned and reactive maintenance activities.
- Coordinate Safe Systems of Work (SSOW) activities, ensuring compliance with Joint Service Publication (JSP) 375 requirements and site procedures.
- Maintain accurate operational records, investigate issues, and produce reports to support continuous improvement and operational performance.
- Supervise engineering subcontractors and support maintenance activities across facilities, mechanical, electrical, and radar systems.
- Stand in for the Shift Leader when required, supporting radar operations, diagnostics, equipment rotations, and site reporting activities.

Does this sound like you?
- A minimum Level 3 engineering qualification and/or significant experience working with HV and LV electrical and electronic systems.
- Currently an Authorised Person Electrical HV/LV or have previous experience performing AP duties is desirable.
- Experience working within Safe Systems of Work environments and a strong commitment to health, safety, and compliance.
- Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, HVAC, building services, or distributed control systems.
- Confident communicator who can build trust and work effectively with customers, colleagues, contractors, and subcontractors.
- Self-motivated and adaptable, with a commitment to continuous learning, growth, and professional development.
