About This Role
Maiden Erlegh Trust is seeking a reliable, proactive and committed Assistant Site Controller to work across Great Hollands Primary School and Birch Hill Primary School in Bracknell. This position is available for one individual or as a part-time job share, offering flexibility for the right candidate(s). This is a fantastic opportunity to join two warm and welcoming school communities within our growing Trust, including Great Hollands Primary School, a high-performing setting with exceptional outcomes, and Birch Hill Primary School, a friendly and inclusive school at the heart of its local community.
This role is essential in ensuring both school sites remain safe, clean, secure, and well-maintained so that pupils, staff, and visitors can enjoy an environment that supports learning and wellbeing. Working as part of a supportive site team, you will be a valued member of our #TeamMET community.
Due to the operational requirements of supporting two school sites, the successful candidate will be required to work a split-shift pattern to accommodate the opening and closing of the school premises (mainly the Great Hollands Primary School site). The role will therefore require some early morning and evening working, and there may be occasional additional out-of-hours responsibilities to support school activities, lettings, emergencies, or site security needs.
Role
Working under the guidance of the Site Manager, the Assistant Site Controller will support the day-to-day upkeep, security and maintenance of both school sites. The role involves:
- Routine maintenance and minor repairs
- Health & safety checks and record keeping
- Cleaning support when needed
- Ensuring grounds and buildings remain tidy, safe and welcoming
- Supporting the setup of school events and activities
- Key-holding responsibilities and occasional out-of-hours duties
- Supporting wider operational needs that contribute to a safe learning environment
This is a hands-on, varied role suited to someone who enjoys practical work, takes pride in high standards, and values being part of a hardworking, friendly team.
Key Responsibilities
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Carry out routine H&S checks (fire safety, water hygiene, emergency lighting, alarms, etc.)
- Assist with the safe operation of security, access control and CCTV systems
- Maintain accurate documentation in line with Trust procedures
Site & Building Maintenance
- Complete minor repairs and maintenance tasks
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness across buildings and grounds
- Support cleaning teams as needed
Security
- Act as a key holder and assist with opening/locking procedures
- Support emergency drills and responses
Operational Support
- Assist with moving furniture, setting up rooms, and supporting school events
- Ensure PPE, equipment and materials are used safely and appropriately
