Position: Assistant Site Manager

Location

Office based in Northwich, with travel across Cumbria and Yorkshire

Salary

£24.50 per hour

We are recruiting for an experienced Assistant Site Manager to join a growing construction team, supporting the delivery of refurbishment and rebuild projects across Cumbria and Yorkshire.

The projects involve the sensitive refurbishment and redevelopment of Grade I and Grade II listed heritage buildings, transforming historic properties into high-quality retreats.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working on unique, high-specification projects and wants to develop their career within a specialist construction environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Site Manager with the day-to-day management of projects.
  • Support the delivery of refurbishment and rebuild works from start through to completion.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, trades and site activities.
  • Assist with maintaining programmes and ensuring works remain on schedule.
  • Monitor workmanship and ensure projects are delivered to a high standard.
  • Assist with site health & safety, inspections and relevant documentation.
  • Help coordinate materials, plant and deliveries.
  • Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers and other project stakeholders.
  • Assist with quality control, snagging and handover.
  • Work within the requirements of working on listed and heritage buildings.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as an Assistant Site Manager or similar construction role.
  • Experience within refurbishment, renovation or rebuild projects.
  • A background in working on high-quality or complex construction projects would be advantageous.
  • Experience working on listed or heritage buildings would be highly beneficial.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Good understanding of health & safety requirements.
  • Relevant site management qualifications such as SSSTS/SMSTS would be advantageous.
  • CSCS card.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between projects across Cumbria and Yorkshire.

The Projects

You will be supporting the refurbishment and redevelopment of a number of unique Grade I and Grade II listed buildings, with the aim of sensitively renovating these historic properties into luxury retreats.

Due to the nature of the buildings, attention to detail, quality and an appreciation of working within heritage environments are particularly important.

The role is office-based in Northwich, with regular travel required to sites across Cumbria and Yorkshire.
