Role Overview
The Assistant Site Project Manager supports the safe, on-time and on-budget delivery of major renewable and transitional infrastructure projects, including utility-scale solar PV, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and related grid or energy transition works. Working closely with the Site Project Manager, this role coordinates site activities, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure high-quality project execution in line with UK regulatory and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the day-to-day management of construction activities across solar, BESS and associated infrastructure projects.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and site teams to maintain programme schedules and productivity.
  • Support the implementation and enforcement of health, safety, environmental and quality (HSEQ) standards on site.
  • Monitor progress against project plans, identifying risks, delays, and mitigation actions.
  • Assist with procurement, logistics planning, and material tracking.
  • Maintain accurate site documentation, including reports, permits, RFIs, and change records.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, grid operators and local authorities as required.
  • Support commissioning, testing, and handover processes to ensure project completion to required standards.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and best practice adoption across projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related discipline.
  • 2-3 years proven experience in project delivery within renewable energy (solar PV, BESS, onshore wind or similar).
  • Strong understanding of construction project management principles and HSEQ compliance.
  • Working knowledge of UK regulations, standards, and permitting relevant to infrastructure projects.
  • Strong organisational, communication, and stakeholder coordination skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced site environment.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and MS Office applications.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel or be site-based as required.

Desirable

  • Experience on utility-scale renewable or grid-connected projects.
  • SMSTS, CSCS, or equivalent site safety certifications.
  • Knowledge of grid systems, electrical works, or energy storage technologies.
