Role Overview

The Assistant Store Manager – Multi-Site Retail works alongside the Store Manager to lead a multi-site retail operation, driving sales performance, maximising profitability, and delivering an exceptional fan experience in every store. This role is responsible for managing, motivating, and developing a retail team to consistently achieve KPIs, uphold visual merchandising standards, and execute operational best practices across all sites. The Assistant Store Manager – Multi-Site Retail delivers business and fan impact through BOLD leadership and execution excellence, leveraging data, automation, and AI-enabled insights.

Team & Leadership Impact (Build Championship Teams)

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Partner with head office functions — including warehouse, marketing, and operations teams — to align on replenishment schedules, product launches, and peak trading priorities such as match days and key events.
  • Collaborate with the Store Manager to set and reforecast sales budgets, and work cross-functionally to ensure store plans reflect business-wide objectives.

People Leadership

  • Manage, motivate, and inspire the retail team across multiple sites, fostering a culture of high performance, accountability, and continuous development.
  • Identify and close skill gaps through targeted coaching, development planning, and succession planning to build a pipeline of capable, fan-focused retail talent.

Fan & Customer Impact (Obsessed with Fans)

  • Champion a culture of exceptional customer service across all stores, ensuring every fan interaction reflects the highest standards of care and engagement.
  • Drive best-in-class visual merchandising consistently across sites, maintaining outstanding store presentation at all times.
  • Monitor and act on mystery shopper results, using insights to continuously raise the bar on customer experience and service quality.
  • Optimise use of floor space and product placement to enhance the fan shopping experience and maximise sales potential.

Innovation & Problem Solving (Limitless Entrepreneurial Spirit)

  • Identify and implement best practices for stockroom management and operational efficiency across all retail locations.
  • Leverage sales data, KPI trends, and footfall insights to make informed decisions on floor space allocation, staffing, and trading adjustments.
  • Work with the marketing team to execute product launches, events, POS activity, and promotional campaigns with precision and creativity.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to improve processes, reduce loss, and enhance the overall performance of the retail operation.

Ownership & Execution (Determined & Relentless Mindset)

  • Take full ownership of store-related costs, driving profitability by managing payroll within budget and minimising all areas of loss.
  • Implement and enforce strict stock loss prevention procedures and ensure all cash handling policies are adhered to rigorously.
  • Conduct four full store audits per year and carry out regular security checks to protect business assets and ensure compliance.
  • Take responsibility for all aspects of in-store security, including oversight of subcontracted security personnel, till activity monitoring, and loss prevention across the estate.

Required Qualifications

Capabilities & Experience You Bring

  • Proven track record of retail management experience, with demonstrated success in achieving sales targets, driving KPIs (including footfall, conversion, and AOV), and delivering revenue growth.
  • Experience managing multi-site or high-volume retail operations in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Strong people management skills, including experience in team development, performance management, and succession planning.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, control costs, and oversee payroll within agreed parameters.
  • Experience in visual merchandising with the ability to deliver and maintain exceptional store presentation standards consistently.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with both internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Ability to operate with autonomy, manage competing priorities across multiple sites, and make sound commercial decisions independently.
  • An interest in football is desirable.

On-site: Your work location will be onsite in Sheffield United Store.
