Position: Assistant Supervisor
Location: Brighton
Schedule: Full-time

The Assistant Supervisor plays a key supporting role in the day-to-day operations of the retail store. Acting as a bridge between the Sales Assistant team, Managers and Head Office, this position is instrumental in maintaining high operational standards, and supporting team performance on the shop floor. The Assistant Supervisor is responsible for the smooth delegation of tasks, providing hands-on operational support, and ensuring exceptional customer service is consistently delivered. They also take the lead in handling customer escalations and confidently assume the role of the person in charge when required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Motivate and support the Sales Assistant team to achieve excellent customer service & performance on the shop floor.
- Delegate daily tasks and responsibilities effectively to team members.
- Assist with recruitment processes, including participating in interviews & assisting with onboarding and offboarding.
- Report staff sicknesses & absence to the Store Manager, and seek emergency cover where required.
- Process customer returns, staff purchases and apply discounts according to company policies.
- Assisting the Store Manager to ensure new employees are properly trained, and compliant with health and safety regulations.
- Report facilities-related issues to the Store Manager or relevant department.
- Verifying incoming deliveries and reporting any discrepancies to relevant department.
- Ensure product rotation and stock freshness are maintained to company standards through regular checks and delegation.
- Attending regular one-to-one meetings with the Store Manager, setting clear goals and monitoring team progress.
- Lead daily stand-up meetings, ensuring all staff are aligned, motivated, and aware of store priorities.
- Provide excellent customer service, and support daily retail operations to ensure smooth running of the store and create an engaging in-store experience.
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
- Proven leadership and people management skills / keyholder & operational responsibilities (retail 1 year+).
- Strong organisational and operational decision-making abilities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage competing priorities.
- Strong communication and delegation skills.
- Ability to lead by example and motivate others.
- Detail-oriented with strong organisational and time-management abilities. Customer-focused with a positive and professional approach.

- Excellent communication and customer service skills.

- Have a good understanding of customer deliverables and deliver exemplary customer service.
- Previous retail experience, preferably in beauty or skincare.
