Main Duties of the Job

As part of our team, you will provide support to end users across the trust and our external partners and respond to issues via the service desk portal, phone, and face to face visits. This is part of the 2nd line support team responding to user issues, requests and queries for our clinical and non-clinical systems.

We are looking for a Assistant Support Technician.

You will work with a variety of teams across UHS Digital but also closely with hospital administration and clinical teams to ensure the best care for our patients.

The team work between 8am and 6pm with team members working either 8 - 4 or 10 - 6 shifts between Monday - Friday and the successful candidate will be consulted on what fits both them and the needs of the service.

Detailed Job Description and Main Responsibilities

In this role, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and provide user support for digital systems
  • Responsible for core applications and for providing second line support for these at a specialist level, including configuration changes and data corrections
  • Respond in accordance with service level agreements to all calls forwarded by the Trust IT Service Desk.
  • Ensure unplanned systems outages or unavailability is communicated to stakeholders providing regular updates.
  • Work in partnership with all other support teams to form good working links across the department.
  • Undertake any other task consistent with grade and experience as determined by line manager or senior manager within UHS Digital.

Person Specification

Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience

Essential Criteria

  • Level 4 NVQ or Diploma or equivalent experience
  • Understanding of what it means to deliver good customer service
  • Good all-round understanding of information technology
  • Proficient MS Office user (up to and including M365)
  • Experience with troubleshooting and solving problems
  • Knowledge and understanding of the importance of data protection
  • Experience of collaborating or working in a team

Desirable Criteria

  • Previous experience as a user of complex digital systems
  • Recognised IT qualification
  • Knowledge of hospital patient flows
  • Relevant experience of database administration / maintenance
  • Basic knowledge of SQL
  • Basic knowledge of any programming language(s)
  • Previous experience of working in an IT Support service
