Assistant Syndicate Accountant

Location: London
Salary: £50,000 DOE

A scaling specialty reinsurer in the London/Lloyd's market, is seeking an Assistant Syndicate Accountant to join Syndicate Finance, reporting to the Senior Syndicate Accountant. Full study support is provided towards a recognised professional accounting qualification.

What you'll be doing

Broad exposure across core syndicate accounting activities, including:

  • Maintaining the syndicates' ledgers monthly, ensuring accuracy and completeness
  • Monthly bank and Lloyd's Central Accounting (LCA) reconciliations, plus key syndicate balance sheet reconciliations
  • Preparing and posting monthly expenses, accruals, prepayments, and journals, with related controls
  • Posting and reconciling investments and overseas deposits
  • Supporting timely production of reports and Group Reporting for entities reporting to the parent
  • Liaising across Finance, Senior Management, Investments, and external auditors

Essential experience

  • Foundational technical accounting knowledge, including a working understanding of UK GAAP
  • Currently studying towards, or committed to starting, a recognised professional accounting qualification - candidates not pursuing this route will not be considered
  • Strong analytical, interrogation, and reconciliation skills
  • Comfortable working accurately with large, complex data sets across varied formats
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Discipline to meet reporting deadlines and confidence communicating with senior stakeholders
