About The Role
We are seeking to appoint an exceptional and inspirational Design Technology specialist to join our highly successful Art Design & Technology curriculum team as Assistant Team Leader.
This is a genuinely exciting opportunity for an ambitious middle leader looking to develop their leadership experience within a thriving and well-resourced faculty. You will work closely alongside our Curriculum Team Leader, whose specialism is Art, and as a result we are particularly keen to recruit a colleague with a strong Design Technology background who can lead and champion DT across the curriculum area. While the successful candidate's teaching timetable will be predominantly based at Twynham School, this is a genuinely cross-school leadership role. Working alongside the Curriculum Team Leader, you will help lead Design Technology across both Twynham School and The Grange School, collaborating with specialist colleagues to deliver an ambitious curriculum, drive excellent outcomes and further strengthen provision across our federation.
Over The Last Two Years, We Have Made Significant Investment In Our Design Technology Facilities At Twynham TGS, Creating An Environment That Matches Our Ambition For The Subject. This Includes
- Two brand-new, state-of-the-art Food Technology rooms.
- A fully inclusive specialist teaching space equipped with adjustable-height workstations to ensure students with mobility needs or those who use wheelchairs can fully access practical learning opportunities.
- New flooring throughout the DT block.
- A new roof and refurbished facilities.
- Modern open-plan unisex toilets.
- A dedicated computer suite designed specifically to support students with coursework and Non-Examined Assessment (NEA).
- Brand new Art teaching room at TGS
As part of Twynham TGS, you will also have the opportunity to collaborate with specialist Art and Design Technology staff at The Grange School, helping to shape an ambitious curriculum and create exceptional learning experiences for young people across Christchurch.
This role would suit an ambitious teacher looking to take the next step into leadership or an existing middle leader seeking a new challenge within a highly supportive and forward-thinking school environment.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
