In Wolverhampton we are relentless in our ambition for people with care and support needs to live gloriously, ordinary lives, living in the place they call home, with the people and things they love, doing what matters to them.

We truly believe good social care can transform lives. If you share this vision, then we want to hear from you!

Why join us?

We’re not just another local authority. We’re a forward-thinking, responsive organisation with a clear vision: to empower our social workers to spend their time doing what matters most: connecting with people and families to support them to live their idea of a good life. We are proud of our:

  • Visible, supportive leadership: Our senior managers are approachable, responsive, and genuinely listen.
  • Strong social work development pathway: We offer a rich and responsive training programme tailored to the challenges of modern practice
  • Use of innovative approaches that work for you and people we support: we’re embracing innovation and technology to free up your time for meaningful work and help people live more independently

You’ll be joining us at a pivotal moment in our journey. We’ve reshaped our services into three new areas: Early Support, Ageing Well and Safeguarding, and Disabilities and Mental Health, based on what matters most to the people we support and the professionals who work with them, making sure people receive the right support, at the right time, by the right person.

This transformation is about more than structure; it’s about creating a service that’s fit for the future, focused on outcomes, and built on trust, respect, and collaboration. Help shape the future of Adult Social Care in Wolverhampton.

  • Adults with mental health needs, supporting them to live gloriously ordinary lives
  • People being discharged from psychiatric hospitals, supporting independence and connection to community
  • Young people preparing for adulthood, helping them navigate life’s transitions with confidence and care
  • People at risk of being, or who have been, involved with the criminal justice system, working alongside them to understand their experiences, build trusting relationships, and co-produce plans that promote safety, independence, and long-term change

We use The Three Conversations, a strengths-based, person-centred approach, that helps us think about: “What does a good life look like to you?” From there, we work together to ensure the support we offer is tailored, empowering, and safe; promoting choice, dignity, wellbeing, and independence.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
