Job Overview
The post holder will work under the direction of Head of Education and Development and discipline specific training leads to facilitate and deliver training to pathology healthcare support worker grades, by following the Health Boards protocols, policies, procedures, pathways and clinical government requirements in the deliverance of training programs which will be inclusive of laboratory analytical processes such as pipetting, microtomy, quality control and analyser maintenance tasks.
Main Duties of the Job
The main purpose of this role is to enhance the delivery of pathology training to medical laboratories assistants and trainee biomedical scientists with a view of increasing departmental capacity for both training and workflow.
The post holder is expected to practice in accordance with Health Board standards, statutory requirements, operate within the boundaries of the role, and assessed competencies. To use personal effectiveness and knowledge to contribute to the development and delivery of a quality service.
To gather information relating to education, training, and workforce analysis. Produce monitoring reports as appropriate, reporting to Head of Education & Development.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications and/or Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Foundation diploma in Healthcare science (Level 4) or equivalent
- Five GCSEs at grades A – C or equivalent level of qualification, e.g. NVQ level 3 in Health and Social Care related subject
- Be able to demonstrate literacy and numeracy to key skills Level 2 (equivalent to GCSE grade A - C in English and Maths)
- Maintain a record of own personal development.
- Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets and presentation packages
- Proficient in laboratory analytical and maintenance tasks

Desirable criteria
- ECDL Qualification or equivalent.
- Awareness of Pathology governance systems
Experience
Essential criteria
- Previous experience of working in a clinical laboratories
- Experience of teaching and assessment in practice with proven presentation skills
- Experience of setting up and using filing/ IT systems
- Ability to develop databases and information systems
- The ability to work unsupervised in a variety of settings, taking responsibility for a delegated workload
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience of working within NHS
- Previous experience of working within Cellular Pathology
