Role Description
The Assistant Transport/Depot Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Rainham, Essex, supporting the efficient day-to-day operation of the depot and transport fleet. This role involves:

- Coordinating vehicle movements and driver schedules
- Monitoring asset availability
- Ensuring that jobs are completed safely, on time, and to client specifications
- Assisting with route planning
- Managing documentation and compliance records
- Overseeing vehicle checks and maintenance scheduling
- Helping supervise depot staff
- Supporting health and safety practices
- Maintaining accurate operational reports and logs
- Liaising with customers and internal teams to resolve operational issues, support service quality, and contribute to continuous improvement in depot and transport processes

Qualifications
- Experience in transport, logistics, or depot operations management, ideally within waste management, construction, or related services.
- Strong organisational and planning skills, including route planning, scheduling, and coordinating multiple jobs and vehicles.
- Knowledge of transport regulations, health and safety standards, and compliance requirements relevant to commercial fleets.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for working with drivers, depot staff, management, and customers.
- Proficiency in basic IT and transport management systems, with the ability to maintain accurate records and reports.
- Demonstrated ability to solve problems under time pressure and make sound operational decisions.
- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience in an operational environment is beneficial.
- Valid UK driving licence; an HGV licence or CPC qualification would be an advantage.
