The Assistant Underwriter supports the Head of Cyber and wider team in delivering BCR’s underwriting strategy for Lloyd’s and London, combining risk assessment, broker engagement, data management, and operational efficiency through accurate reporting, documentation, and process support.

  • Assist the Head of Cyber and team in delivering BCR’s underwriting strategy and business plan for Lloyd’s and London.
  • Identify and support the pursuit of new business opportunities aligned with BCR’s risk appetite.
  • Support all stages of the underwriting process, from submission to bind.
  • Evaluate submissions, perform risk assessments, and document findings to support underwriting decisions.
  • Assist the Head of Cyber in running weekly meetings, including agenda coordination, action tracking, and follow-up support.
  • Stay informed of team priorities and developments to anticipate and respond to portfolio impacts.
  • Accurately complete pricing data in the team’s rating tool, gathering missing data as needed; ensure all bound policies are rated and modelled for reporting.
  • Monitor quotes, firm orders, and renewals to support the team’s quote/bound ratio and target retention rate, as required.
  • Track and resolve subjectivities promptly.
  • Accurately capture, enter, and cleanse data; ensure data integrity and reliability to support underwriting decisions, portfolio analysis, and reporting.
  • File documents daily to support compliance requirements and operational efficiency; monitor missing documents to minimise outstanding items.
  • Draft and prepare documents, including NDAs and quotes, as required.
  • Support the accurate and prompt booking of delegated business (e.g., ECHO, AXC, CyXS+).
  • Provide timely and dependable ad-hoc administrative support to the team.
  • Assist BCR and LON’s finance teams in resolving queries and late payment of premiums.
  • Comply with external and internal policies, procedures, laws, and regulations.
  • Collaborate with internal functions including legal, compliance, pricing, exposure management, and operations.
  • Develop and maintain excellent rapport with brokers, professionally representing Berkley in London.
  • Consistently deliver outstanding service levels to brokers.
  • Support high performance within the underwriting team by delivering dependable, high-quality assistance.
