Role Description
This is an exciting, on-site role based in the Greater Portsmouth Area for an Assistant Verger and Precinct Officer. The individual will support the work of the Vergers’ team in the daily operations of Portsmouth Cathedral, ensuring that services, events, and activities are well-prepared and supported. Responsibilities include maintaining cleanliness and presentation of the Cathedral, providing assistance to visitors, and ensuring safety and security within the precinct. Additionally, the role involves supporting all services, ceremonies, and official events while contributing to the spiritual and operational objectives of the Cathedral.

Qualifications
- Organization, time management, and multitasking abilities
- Understanding of or willingness to learn liturgical practices and traditions
- Communication skills, including the ability to engage with members of the public and diverse groups
- Problem-solving capabilities and a proactive approach to challenges
- Physical fitness to perform duties, including lifting, carrying, and moving objects
- Teamwork, flexibility, and the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic environment
- Commitment to the values and mission of Portsmouth Cathedral
- Previous experience in building management, event coordination, or a similar role is advantageous
