Job Information:

Functional Title: IT Business Manager

Department: Technology - Office of the CIO

Corporate Level: Assistant Vice President

Reports To: Director, IT Strategy and Business Management

Location: London

Section one – Overview of the role:

The Office of the CIO (“OCIO”) plays a critical role in driving operational excellence, strategic alignment, and governance maturity across the IT Division. The IT Business Manager is primarily responsible for supporting members of the IT Leadership team and their direct reports enabling effective IT Leadership operations by defining and tracking departmental performance, building strategic roadmaps, coordinating governance activities, managing communications and supporting preparation for key meetings.

We are looking for an individual who will bring fresh thinking, creativity and a proactive approach to the role. This is an opportunity to shape and influence how IT Business Management is delivered, identifying new ways to improve processes, enhance reporting, strengthen governance and add value across the IT Division.

Section two - What you will be doing:

  • Co-ordinate IT Governance activities, ensuring adherence to the IT Management Policy and Governance Frameworks. Provide oversight of governance deviations and agreed remediation plans.
  • Track and report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure performance, IT Strategy success, ensuring traceability through to the Corporate KPIs.
  • Produce executive-level management information, dashboards, and KPI reporting to provide insight into IT Performance and strategic progress.
  • Provide Business Management support to IT Leadership, including preparation of materials for board meetings, executive committees and key stakeholder presentations.
  • Support with the development and implementation of an IT Communication strategy including creation of materials, facilitation of Town Halls, publishing and managing content for IT Intranet sites.
  • Drive consistency in departmental reporting, planning and business management practices across technology teams.
  • Provide oversight of the technology policy framework; improving internal awareness of IT Governance, roll out training and guidance as required (e.g. Policy document review cycles).
  • Manage the business continuity plan for the Office of the CIO.
  • Provide support to the Business Management lead, ensuring the effective delivery of business management objectives.
  • Involvement in additional activities:
    • Set up of dedicated IT Department governance forums.
    • Implementation of KPIs at an IT Department level.
    • Set up and facilitation of IT Department level Town Halls.
    • Creation of department level roadmaps to support the delivery of the IT Strategy.
    • Development and maintenance of IT Departmental dashboards in PowerBI to visualize IT performance and metrics.

Section three - What we are looking for:

  • Exceptional Communication Skills: Able to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Knowledge of Governance & Process: Strong understanding of governance frameworks, process lifecycles and CLS internal standards.
  • Exceptional Written and Presentation Skills: Able to produce memos and slides suitable for executive and board level meetings.
  • Strategic Thinking: Strong understanding of strategic direction to ensure alignment.
  • Emotional Intelligence: Strong self-awareness, empathy and ability to engage audiences.
  • Influencing & Leadership Support: Ability to advise, shape conversations and support executive decision making.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Experienced in engaging with stakeholders at all levels, driving consensus around an outcome/recommendation.
  • Analytical Interpretation & Reporting: Ability to translate raw data into meaningful performance narratives for leadership. Great attention to detail.

  • Degree in a relevant field (desirable but not essential).
  • 5+ years’ experience working in IT Business Management, IT Governance, Program Management, Service Management within the Banking sector.
  • Internal Communications experience, including creating content for IT intranet site.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint with the ability to design clear, visually engaging and professional presentations for an executive audience.
  • PowerBI (or similar) certification beneficial.
