About This Role
Join Wells Fargo's Enterprise Functions Technology (EFT) team and help deliver innovative technology solutions that support critical business functions across the enterprise. As a Software Engineer within Finance Technology, you will play a key role in enhancing and supporting Axiom ControllerView and associated regulatory reporting platforms used by the Finance Controllers organisation.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Python developer with data engineering experience to work at the intersection of technology, finance, and regulatory reporting. You will design and deliver scalable solutions, contribute to platform enhancements, improve data processes, and collaborate with business and technology partners across a global organization.
The ideal candidate will have strong Python development skills, ETL/data engineering experience, and a passion for solving complex business challenges through technology. Experience with SQL, cloud and DevOps practices, Agile delivery, and emerging AI technologies such as machine learning and large language models would be advantageous.

In This Role, You Will
- Participate in low to moderately complex initiatives and projects associated with the technology domain, including installation, upgrades, and deployment efforts
- Identify opportunities for service quality and availability improvements within the technology domain environment
- Design, code, test, debug, and document for low to moderately complex projects and programs associated with technology domain, including upgrades and deployments
- Review and analyse technical assignments or challenges that are related to low to medium risk deliverables and that require research, evaluation, and selection of alternative technology domains
- Present recommendations for resolving issues or may escalate issues as needed to meet established service level agreements
- Exercise some independent judgment while also developing understanding of given technology domain in reference to security and compliance requirements
- Provide information to technology colleagues, internal partners, and stakeholders

Required Qualifications
- Experience in software engineering, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.
- Proficient In Python development.
- ETL/Data engineering experience.
Desired Qualifications
- A good understanding of core coding concepts like data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming (OOP).
- A grasp of modern engineering practices, DevOps principles, version control systems (e.g. Git), automated testing and exposure to Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
- Basic understanding of relational databases and SQL and ability to write and optimise simple SQL queries.
- Familiarity with applying Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) techniques to optimise data pipelines, data quality monitoring or reporting processes.
- Exposure to Large Language Models (LLMs) and ability to experiment with fine-tuning or prompt engineering to solve business problems.
- Familiarity integrating AI/ML solutions into existing applications and workflows using APIs, SDKs or agent frameworks.
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies and experience working in Agile teams.
- Careful and methodical approach to writing and testing code.
- Basic to intermediate proficiency with Linux/Unix systems, command-line tools and scripting.
