Skills And Competencies

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in financial services policy, regulation, government affairs, or a related field
  • Experience drafting consultation responses, policy papers, regulatory filings, or equivalent analytical work
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to distil complex policy issues into concise, actionable briefings
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with internal stakeholders and external contacts at various levels of seniority
  • Well-organised and able to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision
  • Familiarity with credit rating agency regulation, capital markets policy, or related financial services frameworks preferred
  • Existing network of contacts within UK government, regulatory, or industry circles preferred
  • Demonstrated proficiency in artificial intelligence concepts, with hands-on experience using AI tools to streamline workflows and enhance operational efficiency. Proven ability to implement AI-powered solutions to solve business challenges. Demonstrates a growing awareness of AI risk management and a commitment to responsible and ethical AI use

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in law, public policy, economics, political science, finance, international relations, or a related discipline required
  • Postgraduate qualification in law, public policy, economics, or a related discipline preferred

Responsibilities

The AVP, UK Government and Public Affairs supports Moody's Government, Public and Regulatory Affairs strategy across the United Kingdom through stakeholder engagement, thought leadership, and cross-functional collaboration.

  • Support the SVP in managing relationships with UK government officials, regulators, parliamentarians, trade associations, and other relevant third parties
  • Prepare briefing materials, talking points, and background research ahead of senior-level external meetings and events; attend and, where appropriate, represent Moody's at industry forums, working groups, conferences, and stakeholder events
  • Identify opportunities to engage with officials and stakeholders who influence the UK policy landscape and recommend engagement strategies to the SVP
  • Contribute to thought leadership content that positions Moody's perspectives on topics of interest to UK policymakers and regulators; support the development of policy briefing documents, testimony, and other materials that advance Moody's objectives in the United Kingdom
  • Work closely with colleagues in Legal, Compliance, Communications, and the business lines to ensure regulatory positions are commercially informed and internally aligned
  • Support the wider Government, Public and Regulatory Affairs team on cross-regional projects and initiatives as needed
  • Contribute to the global functioning of the Government, Public and Regulatory Affairs team by sharing insights on UK developments and participating in cross-regional coordination

About The Team

Moody's Government, Public and Regulatory Affairs team is a global, strategic function within Global Corporate Affairs, reporting directly to the Chief Corporate Affairs Officer. The team is responsible for providing expertise in government relations, public policy, regulatory analysis, and geopolitical affairs that inform Moody's strategy, commercial activities, and risk management across all business lines and markets. The team shapes Moody's positions on regulatory policy worldwide, builds and maintains relationships with governments, regulators, and multilateral institutions, and advances thought leadership that strengthens Moody's reputation with policymakers. By joining our team, you will contribute to high-impact work at the centre of Moody's UK engagement strategy, helping to shape Moody's relationships with Westminster, Whitehall, and key regulatory and industry bodies, while contributing to broader cross-regional initiatives across EMEA and globally.
