This role is open to Manchester residents only. Use the Council Finder to check your local authority is Manchester. Applications from outside the Manchester local authority area will be rejected.
About the Role
The Daytime Support service provides varied and flexible assistance to adults with a learning and/or physical disability, older people, adults with an acquired brain injury, and adults with sensory impairments.
The service aims to make a positive difference to the lives of the people we support by promoting independence, health, wellbeing, and choice in a person-centred manner.
Responsibilities
Working as part of a team, you will assist in the provision of high-quality practical and emotional support and believe that every individual has the right to achieve their full potential regardless of disability. You will:
- Assist in the provision of person-centred support to individuals and groups to maintain and develop daily living skills, enable full participation in a range of activities, and support people to access various community activities.
- Provide support and assistance with personal and intimate care.
- Report signs of illness, injury, or suspected abuse to the appropriate member of the team.
- Assist in the provision of a stimulating environment for all citizens and encourage their participation in the running of the day centre.
- Assist in new initiatives and changes in service delivery.
- Participate in staff development opportunities and training provided.
- Transport is provided to collect some of the people who use the Service from home in the morning and return home at the end of the day. Transport may also be provided for external activities in the community or further afield. The role holder will be responsible for the safety, welfare, and supervision of citizens whilst on transport to the Centre and the return journey home.
The role holder will be expected to work flexibly between the hours of 08.00 - 18.00 when service requires.
- Be willing to undertake a level 2 qualification in Health and Social Care.
- Demonstrate a commitment to the provision of services that deliver equality and social inclusion.

Pre-Employment Checks
If you are successful, your appointment will be subject to completing the relevant pre-employment checks. These checks will be carried out as part of our recruitment process and include:

Appointable candidates will be required to apply for an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Information provided by you or the DBS will be dealt with in a confidential manner and in accordance with the DBS Code of Practice which can be viewed here. - Experience of providing person-centred support to adults with care and support needs, including personal and intimate care and support with eating and drinking.
- Ability to build positive, respectful relationships with citizens, families, carers, and colleagues to support individual wellbeing outcomes.
- Experience of supporting people to take part in everyday activities, including community-based activities that promote independence, wellbeing, choice, and quality of life.
