The Role

Do you have a passion for vehicle maintenance, technical diagnostics and keeping operations moving?

Join our Transport Services team and become a key part of a workshop responsible for maintaining a fleet of more than 2,300 assets, including around 300 HGVs. As Assistant Maintenance Workshop Controller, you'll be at the heart of our operation, providing hands-on technical leadership, supporting technicians, and ensuring vehicles are prepared to the highest standards. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a busy, challenging environment and wants to make a genuine difference every day.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for a proactive and technically skilled maintenance professional who thrives in a busy workshop environment. You'll be someone who takes pride in maintaining high standards of safety, compliance and fleet performance, while supporting and developing those around you. With strong diagnostic capabilities and a hands-on approach, you'll play a key role in ensuring our vehicles and equipment remain safe, reliable and ready for service.

In this role, you will:

  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to ensuring all maintenance and compliance obligations are consistently met.
  • Champion health and safety by conducting monthly workshop inspections, identifying risks and working with the Workshop Controller to implement effective solutions.
  • Carry out high-quality maintenance and repairs across a diverse fleet, including HGVs, trailers and plant equipment.
  • Help deliver excellent service performance by ensuring maintenance activities support the achievement of key operational targets and KPIs.
  • Build effective relationships with suppliers and colleagues to maintain optimal stock levels and minimise vehicle downtime.
  • Support and guide Workshop Technicians, fostering a safe, collaborative working environment while mentoring apprentices and helping to develop future talent.
  • Provide advanced technical expertise and diagnostic support, ensuring faults are identified accurately and maintenance is completed safely and efficiently.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
