The Emerging Companies Team
The Emerging Companies Team sits within the Corporate Tech Division and supports innovative companies, challengers and disrupters through the key stages of their growth journey. The team advises on a broad range of emerging companies work, including venture capital fundraisings and investment activity, and regularly acts for investors (including venture capital funds) on their own investments as well as supporting their portfolio companies.
Duties And Responsibilities
The role will involve advising emerging technology and life sciences businesses on the key stages of their growth journey, as well as acting for venture capitalists, angel investors, syndicates and institutional investors (including investment funds specialising in seed capital, venture capital and growth equity). Our team also advises on transactions with universities and research organisations.
We are open to candidates based in London, Cambridge, or Oxford and the successful candidate will work with the wider team (in all these locations) often on nationally and internationally significant matters.
Skills/Experience
- Between 1-5 years' PQE gained in a relevant practice area from a reputable law firm.
- Excellent team player.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Excellent organisational skills.
- Excellent writing skills, with strong drafting abilities.
- Demonstrates a hunger to undertake business development activities, both internally amongst colleagues across the firm, and externally to existing and potential new clients.
- Takes responsibility for and attends to self-development.
- Ability to effectively manage own workload.
- Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels, both internally and with clients.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Personable and confident, able to build relationships with colleagues, clients and external organisations.
- Resilient and calm under pressure.
- Adaptable and flexible approach.
- Pro-active and takes initiative.
- Embraces new technologies and has an appetite to be involved in projects to develop their use alongside client-facing work.
