Associate (Lawyer) – Leveraged Finance / Private Credit

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious finance lawyer to join one of the world's leading US law firms as it continues the strategic growth of its London Finance practice.

Widely recognised as the premier lender-side law firm, the firm has been at the forefront of the leveraged finance market for more than 30 years. Renowned for its market-leading position in Term Loan B and high yield debt transactions, the firm advises many of the world's leading financial institutions, private credit funds and investment firms on their most complex and high-profile financing matters.

Having historically maintained a smaller London presence, the firm has made a significant investment in expanding its European Finance practice. Under the leadership of a highly regarded partner group, the London office has grown rapidly and now offers lawyers the opportunity to work on market-leading cross-border transactions within a genuinely entrepreneurial and high-performing environment.

The department

The London Finance team advises lenders, private credit funds, investment banks and financial sponsors across the full spectrum of leveraged finance transactions. The practice has particular expertise in leveraged finance, high yield bonds and private credit, acting on sophisticated domestic and cross-border financings for some of the world's most prominent financial institutions and investment funds.

Lawyers are encouraged to develop experience across multiple financing products, gaining exposure to syndicated lending, high yield debt and private credit transactions, while working alongside specialists in areas including real estate finance and the rapidly growing data centre finance market. Led by recognised market leaders, the London team continues to attract exceptional legal talent as it expands.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
