Dentons and Project Finance
Dentons' Projects team advises sponsors, lenders, borrowers, investors, developers and public sector clients on domestic and cross-border project development and finance transactions across the energy and infrastructure sectors. Our work includes greenfield and brownfield financings, portfolio financings, refinancings, PPP/PFI and concession structures, acquisition financings and restructurings. With deep regulatory, project development and project financing experience, the team supports clients across all aspects of their energy & infrastructure transactions, including multi-sourced financings on international and domestic projects.
Wider Projects Group
Our project finance lawyers sit within our award-winning Projects team, which advises private sector clients, lenders and Government across energy, infrastructure and PPP transactions. The team is integrated across the UK, Ireland and Middle East and works with Dentons offices throughout the world, giving associates exposure to cross-border work and colleagues across the global firm.
The Role
This is a role for lawyers with an inquisitive mind who want to play a central role in complex project finance transactions. You will work with sponsors, lenders, investors, developers and public sector clients on high-profile projects involving commercial, regulatory and financing issues. We are looking for candidates with a good understanding of risk allocation, bankability and commercial drivers, plus well-developed drafting and negotiating skills across project finance documents. You will be a problem solver who can assess where risk best sits, work collaboratively to reach favourable outcomes and build good client relationships. The role offers progression opportunities for the right candidate, as well as client secondments and internal mini-secondments to our Ireland and Middle Eastern offices.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
