Litigation Solicitor | Cheltenham

£40-50K + DOE

GMP Recruitment Agency Limited is proud to be recruiting for a Litigation Solicitor to join an established and growing legal team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated legal professional to develop their career within a supportive firm, handling a diverse range of contentious matters and delivering practical, commercially focused advice to clients.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to take ownership of their caseload, build strong client relationships and contribute to the continued success of the wider team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a varied caseload of civil and commercial disputes, overseeing matters from initial instruction through to settlement or final resolution.
  • Prepare and draft a range of legal documentation, including pleadings, witness statements, court applications, correspondence and settlement agreements.
  • Undertake legal research and advise clients on their legal position, potential risks, prospects of success and available courses of action.
  • Assist clients throughout the dispute resolution process, including negotiations, mediation and court proceedings.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the firm to ensure clients receive a professional, efficient and responsive service.
  • Maintain accurate case records, ensure compliance with relevant procedures and manage deadlines effectively.
  • Contribute to business development initiatives, strengthening existing client relationships and identifying opportunities to develop new business.

The Ideal Candidate

  • A qualified Solicitor in England and Wales, with experience in litigation, civil disputes or a related area of contentious law.
  • A sound understanding of civil procedure and the ability to manage legal matters confidently and efficiently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal issues in a clear and accessible manner.
  • Strong commercial awareness, analytical ability and a pragmatic approach to resolving disputes.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise a busy workload and meet competing deadlines.
  • A proactive and client-focused approach, with the confidence to work autonomously while contributing positively to a collaborative team environment.
