Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate attorney to join our family law team. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of experience handling family law matters, including divorce, custody, child support, adoption, and related issues. This role offers an opportunity to work closely with clients during significant life transitions, advocating for their best interests with professionalism and empathy.

Applicants must be licensed in Iowa and able to obtain licensure in South Dakota and Nebraska. Candidates with an existing client base are encouraged to apply, though a willingness to develop business and build client relationships is equally important.


Responsibilities

  • Client Representation: Represent clients in family law cases, including divorce, custody, child support, adoption, and guardianships.
  • Negotiation & Litigation: Draft pleadings, negotiate settlements, and advocate for clients in court hearings and trials.
  • Mediation & Alternative Dispute Resolution: Assist clients in mediation and collaborative law proceedings when appropriate.
  • Legal Counseling: Provide clear and compassionate legal advice to clients navigating complex family law matters.
  • Business Development: Engage in efforts to develop new client relationships and contribute to the firm’s growth.
  • Remote Collaboration: Work remotely and collaboratively using modern technology to engage meaningfully with clients and team members.
  • Stay Informed: Stay updated on changes in family law, child welfare regulations, and court procedures.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • 3+ years of experience practicing family law.
  • Strong litigation, negotiation, and client advocacy skills.
  • Ability to manage a caseload independently while maintaining responsiveness to clients.
  • Excellent legal research and writing skills.
  • Willingness to engage in business development and foster long-term client relationships.
