We're looking for an experienced Building Surveyor to join our growing Newcastle team and play a key role in strengthening Hollis' presence across the North East. This is an exciting opportunity for an Associate or Senior Associate/AD who wants to be part of something that's growing, with the chance to influence the direction of the business, develop client relationships and help establish Hollis as a leading consultancy in the region.
Working closely with our recently appointed Director, you'll act as a trusted second-in-command within the office, delivering a broad range of professional and project-based Building Surveying services while helping to drive growth, win new business and support the continued development of the team. You'll enjoy the autonomy to take ownership of client relationships, identify opportunities and contribute to the success of a growing regional business.
This role is ideal for a commercially minded Building Surveyor who is looking for more responsibility, greater visibility and the opportunity to make a genuine impact. Whether you're already operating at Senior Associate level or ready to take the next step, you'll join at an exciting stage of our journey and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our Newcastle office.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the continued growth and development of Hollis' Newcastle office, helping to strengthen our presence and reputation across the North East.
- Act as a trusted deputy to the office lead, supporting the leadership, development and growth of the regional Building Surveying team and Newcastle office
- Lead and deliver a broad range of professional and project-based Building Surveying services, including technical due diligence, dilapidations, contract administration, refurbishment projects, defect diagnosis, planned maintenance and more
- Take ownership of key client relationships, delivering exceptional service while identifying opportunities to expand existing commissions and generate new business opportunities.
- Play an active role in winning work through networking, building market presence, attending industry events and contributing to fee proposals, presentations and client pitches.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across Building Surveying, Project Management, Cost Management, Building Safety & Fire and other service lines to deliver integrated solutions for clients.
- Mentor and support junior surveyors, helping to develop talent within the team and foster a positive, collaborative culture.
- Take responsibility for the successful delivery of projects and commissions, ensuring work is completed to the highest technical standards and in line with client expectations.
- Manage project finances, resources and programmes to ensure profitable and efficient delivery.
- Support recruitment, succession planning and team development as the Newcastle office continues to expand.

Your profile
- Chartered Building Surveyor (MRICS).
- Significant experience delivering a broad range of professional and project-based Building Surveying services.
- Strong commercial awareness and an appetite for business development and client relationship management.
- The ability to identify opportunities, win work and contribute to the continued growth of a regional business.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience mentoring and supporting junior team members
- Ambition to play a key role in the growth and long-term success of Hollis in the North East.
