Associate Building Surveyor
At Hollis, we're proud of the reputation we've built for delivering trusted advice across the property lifecycle. As demand for our professional surveying services continues to grow, we're looking for an Associate Building Surveyor to join our established Milton Keynes team, helping to strengthen our dilapidations and technical due diligence offering across the Midlands.
This is an opportunity to work on a wide variety of high-quality instructions across commercial property, advising investors, occupiers, landlords, and developers on some of the region's most interesting assets. You'll join a collaborative team of experienced surveyors and specialists, combining technical expertise with a practical, client-focused approach.
With a strong pipeline of work and support from colleagues across our UK and European offices, you'll have the opportunity to further develop your professional expertise while playing an important role in the continued success of our Midlands Building Surveying team.
The Role
As an Associate, you'll play a key role in delivering professional building surveying services, maintaining strong client relationships, and supporting the continued development of our Midlands offering.
Working closely with colleagues across Building Surveying and the wider Hollis business, you'll provide expert advice across a range of commercial property instructions, with a particular focus on dilapidations and technical due diligence.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering dilapidations instructions on behalf of both landlords and tenants.
- Undertaking technical due diligence surveys and reporting for acquisitions, disposals, and portfolio transactions.
- Advising clients on lease obligations, reinstatement liabilities, and wider landlord and tenant matters.
- Producing high-quality reports and professional advice across a variety of commercial asset types.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with existing and prospective clients.
- Supporting the development of new and existing client opportunities alongside senior colleagues.
- Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver joined-up advice to clients.
- Mentoring and supporting graduates and junior surveyors in their professional development.
- Contributing to the growth and success of the wider Building Surveying team across the Midlands.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
