Charles Garth Chartered Surveyors & Property Consultants is seeking an Associate Chartered Building Surveyor to join our team in Leeds.
This role would suit an established Associate or an experienced Senior Building Surveyor ready to take the next step. You will combine hands-on surveying with responsibility for client relationships, project delivery, and the development of colleagues.
The Role
You will deliver clear, practical advice to clients, manage a varied workload, and help grow our building surveying services. Success in this role means delivering high-quality work, building trusted client relationships, and supporting a collaborative team.
Responsibilities
- Undertake building surveys, technical due diligence, and defect investigations, producing clear reports and recommendations.
- Prepare specifications, schedules of work, and tender documentation for repair and refurbishment projects.
- Provide contract administration and oversee projects from instruction through to completion.
- Advise clients on dilapidations, property condition, and planned maintenance.
- Manage project budgets, fees, and programmes, maintaining quality and meeting agreed deadlines.
- Develop existing client relationships and contribute to winning new instructions.
- Mentor junior surveyors and support their progress towards chartership.
- Work with senior colleagues to develop the team and contribute to the growth of the practice.

Qualifications and Experience
- Chartered Building Surveyor with MRICS status.
- Strong experience delivering professional building surveying and project services, ideally within consultancy.
- Sound technical knowledge of building construction, defects, and remedial works.
- Experience managing client instructions and projects independently.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical matters clearly.
- Commercial awareness, effective organization, and a proactive approach to solving problems.
- A collaborative approach and a commitment to developing colleagues.

Working Arrangements
This is a full-time, hybrid role based in Leeds, combining office-based and remote working, with travel to client properties and project sites as required.
