Principal / Associate Civil Engineer

Location: Kent

Salary: Competitive + Benefits

Emtech Recruitment are working with a well-established Civil & Structural Engineering Consultancy in Kent who are looking to appoint an experienced Principal / Associate Civil Engineer to join their growing infrastructure team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Civil Engineer looking to take the lead on a diverse range of residential, commercial, and mixed-use development projects. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership, oversee project delivery, and play an important role in mentoring junior engineers while maintaining strong relationships with clients and external stakeholders.

The Role

As a Principal / Associate Civil Engineer, you will lead the design and delivery of civil engineering infrastructure projects from initial concept through to detailed design and construction support.

Working alongside a capable team of engineers and technicians, you will provide technical guidance, review engineering designs and reports, and ensure projects are delivered to the highest technical standards.

This is a client-facing position where you will be responsible for understanding client requirements, preparing fee proposals, agreeing project scopes, and managing projects through to completion. While business development is not a key requirement of the role, you'll be expected to build and maintain strong client relationships and identify opportunities for additional services where appropriate.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
