Clinical Psychologist Wanted: Could We Be the Perfect Match?
We’ve tried the conventional job advert. Now we’re wondering whether our ideal Clinical Psychologist is out there, quietly considering whether to swipe right on private practice…
About us
We’re Well Mind People: an established psychological therapy practice with a warm, highly experienced and emotionally available team—clinically speaking, of course.
Our main clinic is in Wallingford, with another in central Reading. We offer lovely consulting rooms, a regular flow of enquiries and administrative support. In other words, you can concentrate on being a brilliant psychologist without having to build a website, advertise your services or spend your evenings in a committed relationship with an accountant and legal team.
About you
Perhaps you have spent most of your career in the NHS and are ready to dip a toe into private practice without setting up an entire business.
Maybe you are approaching retirement but still love clinical work. Or perhaps you have children, caring responsibilities or a life outside work—quite right too—and want greater freedom over when you see patients.
Reasons to use Rodeo
I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
Our perfect match would be:
- An experienced, UK-based Clinical Psychologist registered with the HCPC
- Confident working with complexity as well as more straightforward presentations
- Experienced with adults and, ideally, children and/or adolescents
- Able to offer CBT alongside another modality, such as EMDR or systemic therapy
- Happy to see both self-funding and insured patients
- Already registered with one or more major private health insurance companies
- Comfortable managing a caseload independently while still enjoying the support of a team
- Kind, capable and genuinely committed to helping people live their lives with greater ease
Are we geographically compatible?
We’re not really looking for a long-distance relationship. Most of our current patients want face-to-face appointments in Wallingford, although there may also be opportunities at our central Reading clinic. Someone local would therefore find this arrangement much easier.

What sort of commitment are we offering?
This is a flexible, self-employed associate opportunity. Our clinics are open seven days a week across extended hours, so you can organise your clinical time around your life.
- Early bird? That works.
- Prefer later appointments? Also fine.
- Need to fit sessions around the school run? We understand.
- Fancy taking August off? Honestly, who wouldn’t?
You will have independence and flexibility, but with an experienced and supportive team around you when you need us.
One small relationship request: no ghosting or breadcrumbing, please! We are looking for someone who is genuinely interested in developing a committed, longer-term professional relationship with us—not someone who matches enthusiastically and then disappears after the first conversation.
If this sounds like the professional relationship you have been looking for, swipe right by emailing Sara Whammond at sara@wellmindpeople.co.uk.
No awkward first date required—just a friendly, informal conversation to see whether we might be a good fit.
“It took my CV and asked me questions relevant to understanding what kind of jobs to suggest for me. Suggestions were almost perfect. Jobs were exactly what I’ve been looking for.”
