Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Associate Compositor to join our team and contribute to our continued growth and success. The Associate Compositor is an exciting role that demands strong technical abilities and creativity.
An Associate Compositor at Harbor works directly under a Lead Compositor to create high-end visual effects using both 2D and 3D techniques. A Lead Compositor will assign and critique their work, and above all provide mentorship to the Associate Compositor on a job-by-job basis. The Associate Compositor position is the foundation in a successful 2D career, where you will be expected to perform basic tasks like paint and roto, all the way up to combining 3D elements onto live action plates. As a result, they will have an in-depth understanding of how to technically and creatively realize the unique look and feel of a Harbor project and an invaluable understanding and knowledge of the technology, bespoke applications, workflow, methodologies, and pipeline. An Associate Compositor needs to be highly efficient and organized in their technical and software abilities, while also being highly artistic and an excellent creative problem solver.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
