Tax Technology Associate Consultant
Tax Technology Associate Consultant (“Associate Consultant”) assists more senior team members in providing tax automation and transformation services to corporate clients.
The Associate Consultant is responsible for creating positive team member experiences that lead to excellent client service and drive revenue and profit for the Firm.
Typical Projects
Typical projects might include detailed requirements analysis, vendor selection, process and control design, the configuration, installation, and implementation/deployment of automated systems, processes and controls, improvements in data quality and consistency for clients, and broader activities to deliver transformation across a range of tax processes.
Role Responsibilities
The Associate Consultant’s primary role is to assist more senior team members in the delivery of tax transformation projects, whether they involve better use of existing systems (e.g., enterprise resource planning (ERP) or consolidation tools), implementation of third-party solutions (e.g. tax engines), leverage of other systems (e.g., Robotics Process Automation (RPA), machine learning, data analytics/visualization solutions), the development of bespoke solutions or the provision of managed services, and assisting more senior team members when advising clients on tax transformations and technology strategy.
The ideal candidate will have analytical and problem-solving skills, coupled with strong people skills. The successful candidate will be effective in researching issues and assisting more senior team members with designing and building innovative solutions, deploying them to clients, and completing end-to-end testing of these solutions.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Assists more senior team members to analyse existing business and system processes and provide recommendations regarding the implementation of tax automation solutions and tax transformation opportunities.
- Assists more senior team members to develop new designs across the widest possible range of tax processes and controls.
- Assists more senior team members to determine and document business and system processes performed for a wide range of tax processes and controls.
- Assists more senior team members when working with clients to help review, define, and document existing tax processes.
- Assists more senior team members to design, install, and configure software solutions to drive tax transformations and implement automation software across the widest possible range of tax processes and controls.
- Assists with day-to-day project management duties.
- Interacts comfortably with client resources across a wide range of departments, often including Information Technology, Finance, and Tax.
- Participates in business development initiatives from time to time.
- Challenges the “status quo” when appropriate and participates confidently in discussions to change or improve processes, controls, systems, and/or data without simply accepting “as is.”
- Assists more senior team members to create, execute, and document testing scenarios.
- Assists with the creation of client deliverable documentation, including creating, composing, and editing written materials.
- Assists with the data gathering, extraction, and analysis of client data.
- Assists the team in client data acquisition to support tax technology services on a required basis.
- When required, travels with other team members to client locations to participate in meetings with clients and assist with gathering data, tax returns, invoices, purchase orders, and other documentation as necessary for use in the tax technology deployment process.
- Assists with the review of documentation, e.g., to fix formatting and spelling.
- Researches issues.
- Works with raw data to complete calculations.
- Uses computerised spreadsheets, relational databases, word processing software, and computer programming software.
- Processes computer data to format and generate reports.
- Assists more senior team members with the provision of Tax Technology consulting and advisory services.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience
- Minimum three A levels or equivalent with A grade equivalent pass.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have intermediate knowledge of Microsoft® Office applications, Outlook, internet navigation, and research.
- Some experience of using business automation software, such as common data analytics/visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, QlikView, Power BI, or similar) and robotic process automation (RPA) tools (e.g., Automation Anywhere, Blue Prism, Alteryx), and data analysis languages such as Python or R and database languages such as SQL would be useful but not necessary.
