JOB TITLE
Associate Counsellor - Self-Employed
LOCATION
In-person across North Wales: Gwynedd, Conwy, Wrexham, and Flintshire, with online counselling delivered UK-wide. Associates work from their own location for online sessions and in-person sessions within the North Wales area.
ABOUT MINDFIRST
Mindfirst Counselling Ltd is a professional integrative counselling practice registered in England and Wales, providing in-person and online therapy to individuals across North Wales and the wider UK. We work with adults across a broad range of presentations such as anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, grief, relationship difficulties, life transitions, workplace challenges, and more. Our lead counsellor holds RNIB accreditation to work with sight loss, an area we are very passionate about.
Mindfirst is currently delivering counselling under the Welsh Government In-Work Support (IWS) framework through RCS, alongside a growing private caseload. We are expanding our associate team and are looking for qualified, BACP-registered counsellors who want to build or grow their caseload under an established, professional practice name.
THE ROLE
This is a self-employed associate position. You will practise under the Mindfirst Counselling name, see your own clients in-person across North Wales or online, and manage your own diary. You are your own clinician where we provide the brand, the infrastructure, and the client referrals. There is no minimum hours commitment. Whether you are looking to fill a few sessions per week or build a full caseload, we want to hear from you.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Qualified counsellor - diploma or degree level or above in counselling or psychotherapy
- Experience with short-term, goal-focused therapeutic models
- Current BACP membership (registered member or accredited)
- Enhanced DBS certificate issued within the last 12 months, or current subscription to the DBS Update Service with satisfactory status
- Up-to-date safeguarding training
- Public Liability Insurance - minimum £5,000,000 per claim
- Professional Liability (Indemnity) Insurance - minimum £1,000,000 per claim
- Have regular clinical supervision in line with BACP requirements
- Right to work in the UK
- Reliable, professional, and self-directed - this is a self-employed role
- Able to work independently within a community-based private setting

DESIRABLE
- BACP accreditation or working toward it
- Experience working in North Wales or familiarity with the local area
- Welsh language skills (welcome but not required)
- Knowledge of or experience with sight loss, neurodiversity, or LGBTQ+ affirmative practice
- Experience working within commissioned or framework-based services
