Job Description
The Associate Creative Director (Copy) provides senior copy leadership across healthcare and pharmaceutical brands, shaping conceptual ideas, messaging systems, and integrated campaign work from brief through final execution. The role partners closely with Art Direction, Strategy, Client Services, Medical, and Regulatory teams to ensure creative work is strategically grounded, medically accurate, and compelling across channels. The Associate Creative Director (Copy) also helps raise the standard of copy craft across teams by guiding writers, reviewing work, and presenting creative thinking to senior internal and client stakeholders.
What You’ll Do
- Lead concept and copy development for integrated healthcare and pharmaceutical campaigns across digital, social, CRM, print, presentation, and other client-facing channels, from initial brief through final delivery.
- Direct copy quality across multiple projects and workstreams, shaping messaging frameworks, campaign narratives, headlines, long-form copy, and channel adaptations while ensuring consistency with strategy and brand objectives.
- Partner with Art Direction, Strategy, Medical, Regulatory, and Client Services to develop ideas that balance creative ambition, audience relevance, scientific accuracy, and regulatory requirements.
- Present creative concepts, copy rationale, and campaign thinking to senior internal stakeholders and clients, responding to feedback while protecting the strategic and creative integrity of the work.
- Mentor and guide copywriters through concept development, reviews, and feedback, while contributing senior creative thinking to pitches, new business opportunities, and broader account growth initiatives.

Qualifications
Required:
- 7+ years of copywriting experience in advertising, marketing, healthcare communications, or a related agency environment, including portfolio examples showing progression from concept development through final execution.
- Demonstrated experience leading conceptual creative work for healthcare, pharmaceutical, life sciences, or other regulated and complex clients, with examples of integrated campaigns across multiple channels.
- Portfolio showing strong copy craft across campaign concepts, headlines, long-form copy, digital, CRM, social, presentations, and other multi-channel deliverables, with evidence of shaping overarching messaging or creative platforms.
- Experience presenting creative work to senior internal stakeholders and clients, including explaining concept rationale, messaging decisions, audience relevance, and responses to feedback.
- Experience reviewing and directing copy across multiple concurrent projects, including working within agency creative workflows and medical/regulatory approval processes while maintaining quality and deadlines.
- Experience mentoring or guiding writers through concept development, copy reviews, and feedback, with evidence of helping improve creative quality or team capability.

Desired:
- Comfort and enthusiasm for using AI as a regular part of how work gets done.
- Experience developing work across HCP, patient, payer, or disease awareness audiences, including adapting messaging while maintaining strategic and medical accuracy.
- Experience contributing senior creative thinking to pitches, new business presentations, or client growth opportunities within healthcare, pharma, or life sciences.
- Working knowledge of healthcare brand challenges, audience needs, therapeutic area considerations, and market dynamics, with examples of applying that understanding to creative work.
- Bachelor’s degree in Advertising, Marketing, Communications, Writing, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
