The role
The Associate Director owns the technical quality, commercial performance and growth of the Leicester civil team. You will lead a portfolio of projects from feasibility through to adoption, and look after key client relationships.

- Lead and contribute to multi-disciplinary projects, managing design of highways, drainage, and external works.
- Engage with planning authorities, statutory undertakers, and national bodies to shape solutions that work for all.
- Act as a trusted advisor to clients, understanding their unique needs and building long-term relationships.
- Mentor and support junior engineers, helping the next generation of talent grow and thrive.

Key responsibilities
- Lead and sign off civil and structural design, including drainage strategies, SuDS, flood risk assessments, external works and foundations
- Oversee Section 38, Section 104 and Section 278 adoption works through technical approval with local authorities and water companies
- Carry technical responsibility for projects of all sizes, up to multi-million-pound schemes, across residential, industrial, commercial and public sectors
- Set and uphold QA, CDM (designer duties) and BIM Level 2 standards across the team

Essential
- A degree in civil or structural engineering, and Chartered status (CEng) with the ICE or IStructE
- 10+ years' UK consultancy experience, including time at Principal or Associate level
- Deep expertise in development civils (roads, levels, drainage, SuDS and adoptions) from concept through to delivery
- A track record of leading and developing engineering teams
- Strong commercial awareness, with experience managing fees, budgets and project finances
- Established client relationships and a record of winning work
- A good command of Civil 3D, AutoCAD and MicroDrainage or InfoDrainage, and confidence picking up new tools
