Associate Director – Corporate Finance
Cheltenham / Gloucester | Hybrid Working
£80,000 – £85,000 + Benefits
We are working exclusively with a highly regarded and growing advisory firm to appoint an Associate Director within its Corporate Finance team, covering the Cheltenham and Gloucester market.
This is a senior appointment within an established, ambitious team and would suit an experienced Corporate Finance professional who enjoys being close to transactions, clients and the wider regional business community.
The role is predominantly focused on deal execution and management, rather than being a heavily sales-led position. While there will naturally be an expectation to develop relationships and contribute to the continued growth of the team, the priority is bringing someone in who can confidently lead transactions and provide high-quality advice to clients.
The Role
As Associate Director, you will take a leading role across a varied portfolio of transactions, working closely with Directors and Partners and taking significant ownership throughout the deal lifecycle. Typical responsibilities will include:
- Leading and managing Corporate Finance transactions from initial engagement through to completion.
- Working across M&A, disposals, acquisitions, MBOs/MBIs and wider strategic advisory assignments.
- Acting as a senior day-to-day contact for shareholders, management teams and other key stakeholders.
- Managing transaction processes, including information gathering, financial analysis, preparation of marketing materials and coordination of due diligence.
- Negotiating and commercially managing transactions alongside clients and their wider professional advisers.
- Managing and developing junior members of the Corporate Finance team.
- Building strong relationships across the regional professional community, including accountants, lawyers, funders and investors.
- Supporting Directors and Partners with business development while progressively developing your own network and market presence.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
