About the Opportunity
This is a rare opportunity for a senior Building Surveying leader to step into a role with genuine influence, not just seniority.
A leading global multidisciplinary consultancy are expanding their Bristol Building Surveying offer and are looking for an Associate Director to help grow the team, develop client relationships and strengthen their regional presence across the South West and Wales. The role sits within a wider built environment consultancy business, giving you the platform of a major organisation with clear local ownership.
Working closely with the Head of Building Surveying and the regional practice, you would help deliver the business plan, win work and support major clients across healthcare, education, residential, defence, commercial, infrastructure and public sector portfolios.
The appeal is the balance of strategic input, client ownership and team leadership, while still remaining close to technical delivery and high-quality project work.
Responsibilities of the Role
This is a senior leadership role combining business development, client management, team leadership and technical oversight. Responsibilities are likely to include:
- Winning work, generating repeat business and developing new client opportunities
- Preparing proposals, tenders and fee submissions with a strong commercial lens
- Leading key projects and acting as a trusted point of contact for major clients
- Supporting regional strategy, workload planning, service quality and profitability
- Collaborating with wider service lines to deliver joined-up multidisciplinary solutions
- Managing, mentoring and developing Building Surveying team members
- Providing technical guidance and senior-level client interface across the practice

About You
This will suit someone who has already built credibility in Building Surveying consultancy and now wants a role with more ownership, visibility and commercial influence. You will ideally bring:
- MRICS or FRICS status with a relevant construction or Building Surveying background
- A strong track record across Building Surveying consultancy services
- Proven experience winning work, managing clients and developing accounts
- Confidence leading projects from inception through to handover
- Experience delivering project work and survey programmes across varied portfolios
- The ability to manage, develop and motivate teams across multiple sites or work streams
- Strong commercial awareness across fees, scope, contracts and profitability
- First-class communication skills with senior clients and internal stakeholders
