Brainlabs is the media agency built to answer one question: what's actually driving profit?
Founded in 2012 by Daniel Gilbert, we were built by engineers before we were a media agency. Today, 1,000+ Brainlabbers across five continents use our proprietary agents, built on 32 media tools and over 2,500 logged experiments, to help brands connect every channel they plan and buy to one thing: the bottom line.
As the Associate Director, BI
You will lead our most advanced reporting and dashboarding work for clients, setting the standard for how Brainlabs turns data into business decisions. You are accountable for the quality, accuracy, and continuous improvement of our intelligence solutions across your client portfolio, with Claude embedded throughout how we build and deliver them. Working across client teams and in close partnership with the wider Data practice, you will own complex BI projects end-to-end, building solutions that speak as clearly to a Head of Marketing as they do to an analyst.
What you do
- Lead Client BI Projects: You own end-to-end delivery of advanced reporting and dashboarding projects using Funnel, BigQuery, and Looker Studio, ensuring every solution is accurate, scalable, and tied directly to each client’s business objectives rather than just their data requests.
- Drive Continuous Improvement: You proactively identify gaps in our dashboarding solutions, implement enhancements, and document best practice so improvements compound across the whole BI team rather than staying locked in a single project.
- Apply Claude Across BI Workflows: You build and maintain a clear, demonstrable track record of AI adoption in the reporting process, using Claude to expand what our BI solutions can do and making it a standard part of how the team works rather than an occasional experiment.
- Own Senior Client Relationships: You are the primary BI point of contact for senior client stakeholders, including Heads of Marketing, presenting complex data stories confidently and designing outputs that work at every level of the client organisation.
- Support Practice Growth: You contribute beyond your client portfolio through new business pitches, internal knowledge sharing, and developing Brainlabs’ BI proposition.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Who you are
- A Technically Advanced BI Practitioner: You are highly proficient in Funnel, BigQuery, and Looker Studio, with hands-on experience building intelligence solutions in-house or at another agency.
- An AI Innovator: You have demonstrable experience using Claude to expand reporting capabilities, and you are excited by the opportunity to push that further across a varied client portfolio.
- A Multi-Level Communicator: You build dashboards that serve every audience, from operational teams digging into the detail to Heads of Marketing making strategic calls, and you present confidently to both.
- A Commercial Thinker: You connect BI work to client value and commercial outcomes, and contribute meaningfully to new business conversations when called on.
- A Quality-First Operator: You hold yourself to rigorous standards on data accuracy, documentation, and reliability, and you have built systems to make that consistent rather than just personal.

- AI Adoption: You achieve measurable, documented AI adoption across the BI workflow, with clear evidence of expanded capability as a result.
- Client Impact: Your dashboards are used and acted on at all levels of the client organisation, and you can evidence where your reporting directly informed a decision by a Head of Marketing or equivalent.
- Practice Contribution: You add at least one meaningful improvement or piece of knowledge to the BI practice each quarter, evidenced by adoption or feedback from peers.
- Commercial Contribution: Your work supports at least one new business conversation or pitch per year, and you can articulate how your BI solutions have driven measurable outcomes for clients.
