Bristol Myers Squibb | Global Drug Development | Trial Risk & Integrity Management
What if your expertise could protect the integrity of clinical trials and the patients depending on them?
At Bristol Myers Squibb, we're on a mission to transform patients' lives through science. And behind every successful clinical trial is a team of brilliant people making sure the work is done right, done safely, and done with integrity. That's where you come in.
We're looking for an Associate Director, Business Risk Management Lead (EU) to join our Trial Risk and Integrity Management (TRIM) team in Uxbridge, UK - a role where your instinct for risk, your passion for quality and your ability to influence people at every level will directly shape the future of clinical research.
This isn't just a compliance role. It's a leadership platform.
You won't be ticking boxes or writing reports that gather dust. You'll be the person who sees risks before they become problems and who builds the culture, the tools, and the confidence across teams to stay ahead of them. You'll work at the intersection of science, strategy, and people, touching global clinical programmes that matter.
Here's what that looks like in practice:
- You'll lead quality risk management end-to-end - identifying, assessing, and mitigating the risks that could threaten GCP compliance, clinical trial delivery and inspection readiness. Your work will directly protect patient safety and trial integrity on a global scale.
- You'll turn data into decisions - using clinical data analytics and performance monitoring systems to spot trends, surface insights, and equip senior leaders with the evidence they need to act with confidence.
- You'll influence without authority - partnering across R&D Quality, Global Drug Development Operations, Regional Clinical Compliance, and beyond. Your ability to connect, align, and inspire cross-functional teams will be your greatest tool.
- You'll think globally, act locally - managing risk across processes, programmes, studies, regions, countries, suppliers, sites, and investigators. You'll ensure the right risks reach the right people at the right time.
- You'll build a culture people feel proud of - championing Quality Excellence and Inspection Readiness not as a mandate, but as a mindset. You'll coach colleagues, mentor new team members, and make risk management feel like a business enabler, not a burden.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What's in it for you?
Let's be direct - you're talented and you have options. So here's why this role stands out:
- Real impact, real visibility. You'll sit within BMS's broader Risk Governance structure, giving you direct exposure to senior leadership and strategic decision-making. Your recommendations won't disappear into a committee - they'll shape how clinical operations run globally.
- A seat at the table for innovation. You'll lead risk-based innovation and education efforts. If you have ideas about how clinical risk management should evolve, this is a place where those ideas are welcomed and acted upon.
- Career growth baked in. With 8+ years of experience, you're ready to lead and this role stretches you further. You'll manage complex, multi-layered projects, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and develop the skills that open doors at the highest levels of clinical development.
- A team that actually collaborates. Cross-functional, global, matrixed - yes, it sounds complex, but it means you'll never work in a silo. You'll build relationships across geographies and disciplines, growing a professional network that lasts a career.
- The BMS difference. We're a company that genuinely believes in putting patients first. When you're doing this work here, every risk you mitigate, every process you improve, and every team you empower connects back to a patient who needs a therapy to work.
You're likely a great fit if…
- You have 8+ years in clinical trial operations and/or GCP compliance and you're known as a go-to expert in risk management within your organisation.
- You're comfortable in complexity - navigating global matrices, managing multiple priorities, and keeping your cool when stakes are high.
- You can walk into a room of mixed audiences - from scientists to senior executives - and communicate risk in a way that lands and drives action.
- You lead through influence, not hierarchy, and you take genuine pride in helping others grow.
- You're data-fluent: you love a good trend, know how to visualise insights, and can translate numbers into narratives that move people.
- You hold a Bachelor's degree (life sciences preferred) and an advanced degree? Even better.
- Occasional travel required - because some of the best conversations still happen in person.
