Who We Are

Simon Fraser University is a leading research university, advancing an inclusive and sustainable future. Our purpose – the essence of SFU – is to create and connect knowledge, learning and community for deeper understanding and meaningful impact. We are committed to fostering excellence, innovation, belonging and community in all that we do.

Co-operative Education is a core academic unit within SFU’s Learning and Teaching portfolio that advances student learning through credit-bearing, work-integrated education. Working across eight faculties, the department partners with students, faculty, employers and community organizations to connect academic study with meaningful workplace learning. Through curriculum, advising, employer engagement and reflective practice, Co-operative Education helps students apply disciplinary knowledge, develop professional judgment and strengthen career readiness. The department contributes to student success, experiential learning, curriculum renewal, and SFU’s broader commitments to academic excellence, equity, access and community engagement.

About the Role

Reporting to the Director, the Associate Director, Co-operative Education provides senior operational leadership for Co-op programs across multiple faculties. The role leads multidisciplinary teams responsible for student advising, employer engagement, curriculum delivery, and the continuous improvement of programs and services that support student learning and success. The Associate Director oversees complex portfolios, leads operational planning and change initiatives, and ensures consistent, equitable, and high-quality service delivery across assigned areas. Working closely with faculty, staff, employers, and university partners, the role advances work-integrated learning opportunities, supports student access and success, and responds to evolving labour market and educational needs. The position requires a collaborative leader with strong judgment, experience leading through complexity, and a commitment to excellence in educational program delivery.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
