Associate Director, Core Portfolio Management

If you’re looking for a career that will help you stand out, join HSBC, and fulfil your potential - whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or an exciting new direction, we offer opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.

About the Role

We’re currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Associate Director, Core Portfolio Management. This is an exciting opportunity to deliver analytics-led portfolio intelligence for Core Portfolio Management, providing forward-looking insights that support portfolio steering across risk appetite, concentrations (incl. single name), stress/scenario analysis and early warning indicator management. The role strengthens portfolio resilience and capital efficiency through high-quality data, repeatable analytics and scalable MI.

Key Responsibilities

In this role you’ll:

  • Build and maintain portfolio analytics and MI (performance, trends, pipeline, risk/return drivers) for governance and senior stakeholders
  • Support the development and enhance quantitative monitoring frameworks, including EWI and concentration analytics (Industry and SNC)
  • Execute stress/scenario analysis and translate outputs into clear portfolio implications and steering options
  • Improve data quality and scalability of analytics by standardising definitions, controls and partnering with COO/Data/Tech on automation.
  • Provide analytical support to Watch/Worry and other problem exposure routines, including segmentation and prioritisation
  • Support actions-driven portfolio reviews by turning insights into clear actions, owners and tracking

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
