Associate Director Corporate Finance

£70,000 to £90,000 plus bonus

This may not just be your next job. It could be the move that takes you into senior deal leadership now, then on towards Director and Partner.

This progression is already happening in the team. An internal move has created space for someone else to follow a similar route.

You would be joining an established Manchester Corporate Finance team with experienced Partners and Directors, junior execution support and active lower-mid-market deal flow. This is not a regional launch or a blank sheet of paper.

The Manchester team sits within a broader national Deal Advisory platform, established across Corporate Finance and related advisory services. Behind it is an accountancy group with a large SME client base and strong internal referral channels.

The team advises founders, management teams, corporates and PE investors on sales, acquisitions, MBOs, PE investments and fundraising. It's a well established and highly regarded team with a strong track record across the North West.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

The role

  • Day-to-day delivery of sell side/and buy side transactions from preparation through to completion
  • Own client relationships, financial analysis, valuation, marketing materials, buyer/investor engagement and due diligence coordination
  • Manage and develop Analysts, Executives and Managers
  • Working with Partners on pitches, pipeline conversion and North West relationships
  • Build your own market profile and gradually take on greater responsibility for winning work

You will not be expected to arrive with a Partner level portable book. You will need the confidence and commerciality to contribute beyond execution. You'll spot opportunities and build relationships over time.

The person

This could suit a current Manager ready for a proper step up, or an existing AD who wants clearer progression and more influence.

You'll have end-to-end Advisory experience across lower mid-market and owner managed transactions. ACA, ACCA or similar would be helpful, although your deal experience, client judgement and leadership will matter most.

Manchester or wider North West relationships would help, but this is not a role for someone expected to manufacture a pipeline alone. The platform, senior team and referral network are already there.

The opportunity

  • Good salary plus bonus
  • Immediate ownership of meaningful lower-mid-market transactions
  • Direct access to an experienced Partner and Director group
  • A visible route towards Director and, over time, Partner
  • The backing and referral potential of a substantial national accountancy platform

If you are already trusted to run deals but your progression still depends on waiting for somebody else to move, this is worth a confidential conversation.
