Associate Director – Data Centre Design & Construction
London / Flexible Hybrid Working
£80,000–£90,000 + Bonus
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Data Centre Design & Construction professional to step into a highly visible, client-facing consultancy role working across major digital infrastructure projects.
This is an opportunity to move beyond a traditional design, engineering or construction position and use your experience at a more strategic level — advising investors, developers, operators and enterprise clients on complex data centre developments.
You’ll work across the full development lifecycle, from site selection and feasibility through design, procurement and construction to commissioning strategy. With exposure to a varied international project portfolio, the role offers the opportunity to influence critical technical and commercial decisions rather than simply delivering one element of a project.
The Opportunity
Operating at Associate Director level, you’ll become a trusted technical advisor to clients, helping them navigate the challenges involved in developing and delivering critical digital infrastructure.
Your work will span both strategic advisory and hands-on technical input, including:
- Advising clients on data centre design and programme delivery
- Leading and supporting technical due diligence and feasibility assessments
- Providing design oversight and technical reviews
- Advising on procurement and construction strategy
- Providing subject-matter expertise across MEP systems, critical infrastructure, layouts, resilience, phasing and buildability
- Working closely with designers, engineers, project managers and senior client stakeholders
- Producing high-quality technical reports, risk assessments, design reviews and client recommendations
- Supporting construction oversight and commissioning strategy
- Keeping clients informed of emerging technologies, market developments and industry standards
- Representing the consultancy in client meetings, workshops and industry discussions

About You
You’ll ideally have 5–10+ years’ experience within data centre design, construction or project delivery, potentially gained with an operator, engineering consultancy, main contractor or specialist contractor.
You should bring:
- Strong knowledge of critical data centre systems, including mechanical, electrical and cooling infrastructure
- A solid understanding of data centre design and construction best practice
- Experience working across complex design and/or delivery programmes
- The confidence to engage with senior clients and technical stakeholders
- The ability to translate complex engineering issues into clear commercial and technical recommendations
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach
- The ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholder groups
- A degree in Engineering or a related discipline
Chartered status would be advantageous but is not essential.
